Brooklyn's Broken Arm . . .

So, it is time that I posted about our latest drama. It is actually kind of hard to post about something that is so sad. Last Saturday, little Brooklyn fell and broke her arm. It all started when I told Brooklyn that she was stinky and that I needed to change her diaper. She took off, running away from me, and went around the bed (where I couldn't see her.) Next, I hear a fall, and her cry. By the time I get over to her (we think that she tripped on some pillows that were on the ground), she is standing up, holding her arm and crying this awful cry. I hold her for a minute and calm her down, and then I changed her diaper. After I was done, she rolled over and tried to get up using her left arm. She couldn't do it, and started crying again, holding her little arm. Ben and I rushed her to Urgent Care across the street. I am bawling worse than Brooklyn at this point, it was very traumatic. They take X-Rays, and the doctor says she sees a break in the radius bone right in the middle of her arm. They splint her up (with four of us holding her while she FIGHTS hard) and put a sling on her, and we head home. It was so sad to watch our little girl be in so much pain, and especially not be able to do the things that she normally does, like push her stroller, and drink from her cup. This is Brooklyn on Saturday after we got her home, she was pretty mellow for 2 days straight:

This is Monday, she seems to be doing better and getting pretty good with one hand. She would come up and tell us though, "Arm huwt."

She liked her sling because it had "dogs and kids" - Snoopy. : )
The Urgent Care doctor referred us to an orthopedic doctor, just so we were with a specialist. They took some more X-rays, and this is what they found:

Definite breakage!!!

So, little Miss Brooklyn has a new hard splint and a new sling. We go in again next week for more X-rays (just to check the progress), and she has to wear her splint for 3 weeks, but should be completely healed in 6 weeks!

She seems to be in good spirits . . .

Okay, side note: the orthopedic doctor said that kids this age heal 3 times faster than adults. And, that she would probably heal just fine on her own without anything. But because we have ONE CRAZY LITTLE LADY on our hands, he thought it best that we splint her up to avoid further injury. Smart move on his part, because she is one ACTIVE little girl, and I'm sure that this broken arm won't slow her down too much! : )

Our new favorite show . . .

Okay, so if you haven't seen it already, you HAVE to watch Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory on MTV. It is on Sunday nights at 9 PM ET (so 7 here in Idaho), and it is HILARIOUS! Ben and I were big fans of Rob & Big, and this new show does not disappoint. Just to give you a little taste of what it is all about: this last week, Rob decided he was going to jump a car 120 feet. And so to have the power to do it, he called in a shaman to help him and his cousin find their "inner power animals" to help them through the stunt. Rob's ended up being a orca whale, and his cousin's were a crocodile and a penguin. It is too funny. We could not stop laughing. Seriously, check it out.

Ben Snowmobiling . . .

Last Friday on his day off, Ben got to go snowmobiling! He went with his friend from work, Schyler and Schyler's brother in laws. They had a lot of fun, and they lucked out in the fact that is was sunny, still cold (30 degrees), but at least sunny. : ) They went up to the Green Canyon area, and it brought back some good memories for Ben. While they were gone, me and little Brooklyn went and hung out with Schyler's wife, Amber and their cute little Tatum. Those little girls play so well together. And, later that night, we all went out to dinner at Iggy's Sports Grill, try it out, it is pretty tasty! Thanks for a fun day you guys!!!

Ben having fun? He looks happy. : )

Valentine's Day 2009 . . .

Valentine's Day is a lot of fun now with little Brooklyn. It is a great excuse to buy her some fun, new toys! We spent the day at home for the most part. We opened presents. Ben got some Very Sexy for Him cologne, golf balls, Peeps, and cards from me and B. I got roses, candy, and the Katy Perry CD, and Brooklyn got two new Elmo books, some bath letters, and a new puppy! The rest of the day we just relaxed, and then later that night we were planning on going to Outback but the wait was too long, so we settled on a Chinese restaurant. What a great way to spend Valentine's Day - with the two people I love the most, Ben and Brooklyn! I am so lucky to have both of them in my life!

My beautiful roses from Ben, and the cute basket he got me and Brooklyn . . .

Rivalry . . .

You know how when we lived in Denver we went to all these cool games; like the Nuggets and the Rockies, etc. Well, this is what we do now: SKYLINE VS. IDAHO FALLS. The Skyline/IF Rivalry is one of the biggest in the nation (see here) and as a former Skyline Grizzly, I had to show some Grizzly Pride. I even dragged Ben and Brooklyn, and my parents along for the fun. As you can see, it was pretty intense:

Here is little Brooklyn plugging her ears . . .
Skyline's section "Our future's so bright, we gotta wear WHITE!"

I.F.'s section when the Skyline players were introduced: they were reading the paper. Rude . . .

And, it wouldn't be a IF/Skyline game without the one and only IF SUPERFAN!

Eat your heart out people, especially you Coloradans. : ) And, just for the record Skyline POUNDED IF! Go Grizz!

Brooklyn's Counting . . .

We have been teaching Brooklyn to count to 10, she does it so good! And, she is only 20 months. What a smartie pants! This isn't the best she does, but the only I was able to catch on video so far . . . And, yes, she can now climb in and out of the tub. : )

Josh's Birthday . . .

Last Friday, it was Josh's (Ben's cousin) birthday! Ben and Josh went to breakfast at Denny's, yum - yum! And then later that night, we met up with the family to have a little birthday celebration at Texas Roadhouse. The plan was to go to Red Robin, but there was an hour and a half wait, I mean honestly people, it's just a new restaurant in town. : ) We had a fun dinner at Texas Roadhouse, minus Brooklyn, thanks to my mom. Happy Birthday Josh! And to the single ladies out there, he is available! : )
